MoniqueFormerly trained as an Architect in Melbourne, Australia, Monique has always had a passion for craft and an eye for detail. In 2003, Monique relocated to London where she continued to indulge her creative ambitions and in 2006/07 completed two short courses in Millinery at the London College of Fashion. With this transition from the drawing board to the cutting board, Monique’s focus shifted to a smaller scale of construction where she takes joy in the almost cathartic ritual of transforming her ideas into objects of beauty. The quality of her bespoke creations is a reflection on the craft, precision and the passion with which they are both imagined and fashioned. Her architectural training is evident in the form, context and structure of her designs. Monique creates a combination of bespoke objects for private clients, and ready-to-wear hand-blocked berets, headbands and accessories. Her creations have featured at events such as Spring Racing Carnivals both here and abroad, as well as at weddings on both guests and brides alike. Since 2007 Monique has successfully collaborated with talented fashion label Hemyca on their ‘Secret Garden’, ‘No Fear of Chic’ and ‘Dream of Time’ collections, producing headpieces for photoshoots and, most recently, for the catwalk at London Fashion Week.
Monique should be commended for managing to create something so striking and unique that manages to remain tasteful at the same time.
